Daryoush Rahimi is a Senior Philosophy major, and a transfer student at UCSC. He helps the philosophy department guide its students, and give them the support they need. Daryoush has always enjoyed Philosophy and the great moral understandings that it creates throughout different cultures. In fact, by the time he was five years old, he had lived in three different countries. He was born in South Korea, moved back and forth to Iran a few times, and eventually immigrated to California with his family.

Growing up in the United States, he was acquainted with a great deal of diversity. While living in Pasadena and Glendale, Daryoush spent most of his time with people of many different backgrounds and moving from one city to another throughout his childhood only positively contributed to his profound understanding of various demographics and cultural norms. Daryoush entered the field of Philosophy because it allowed for a deeper understanding of the empirical knowledge that he had gained from living in multiple communities. The research Daryoush has conducted throughout his educational career is essentially focused on understanding the rationale of one’s decisions. One of his strongest points in trying to understand the sole basis of people’s decisions - rooted in their culture and society, involves the ethical conditioning that influences people’s actions.

Daryoush is involved in many extracurricular activities and clubs around campus. He is a member of the Muay Thai Club, Iranian Student Association, Philosophy Slug Society, and the Pre-Law Society. He is currently the President of the Iranian Student Association, and has begun advocating for a Farsi language class to be taught on campus. Outside of his engagement in various clubs on campus, he enjoys being physically active by playing basketball, swimming, hiking, and biking.
