Biography
Rajesh Sampath did his BA at the University of California, Berkeley and doctorate at the University of California, Irvine. He studied modern European philosophy, particularly phenomenology and existentialism. During his doctoral career, he was a student of the late Jacques Derrida. He then completed a two year ChancellorÕs Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley where he conducted research on the impact of HegelÕs Phenomenology of Spirit and HeideggerÕs Being and Time on twentieth century continental European philosophies of history, particularly in France and Germany. He is the author of Four-Dimensional Time: Twentieth Century Philosophies of History in Europe, Lanham: University Press of America, 1999. He was a D.A.A.D. research fellow at Bremen Universitaet in Germany. His work shifted to Hegel, Heidegger and the philosophy of religion. Current research is on Heidegger, Hegel and Derrida and their impact on the philosophy of religion, modern European systematic theology (Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox) and biblical studies.
